Our team is committed to making you feel comfortable and supported throughout each step of your mental health journey.
When to Reach Out
If you are feeling low, anxious, sad or stress and these feelings begin to affect your ability to live your everyday life, we recommend reaching out to a mental health professional or your GP. When you notice these feelings, it is important to reach out to a trusted friend, family member or person in your life. Staying connected with people in your life is important, especially when you are feeling great.
How to Reach Out for Help
We understand that bringing up topics of mental health is hard. When reaching out to friends or family, we recommend the following.
- Be in an environment that makes you feel comfortable
Feeling comfortable and safe can help you feel like you can talk about how you a feeling in an honest way.
- Speak as honestly and truthfully as possible
It isn’t easy to talk about things that are worrying you, but being honest will help you and the person you are talking to understand what you are going through. We recommend using “I” statements and being specific about what is concerning you.
- Don’t rush, take your time
When talking about your mental wellbeing, it is important to take your time and not rush. Be sure you talk about the things you feel comfortable talking about.
There are many ways you can reach out for professional help. Contacting your GP can help you access a mental health plan and begin to process of seeing a mental health professional. If you need to contact a professional immediately, consider contacting Beyond Blue, LifeLine or 000 in an emergency situation.
